Oxford and Cambridge v crazy Australian

April 7th started off fantastically with Owen's arrival. That afternoon it was the Oxford Cambridge boat race, that takes place on the Thames. I usually watch it and was standing on the bank when suddenly someone floated past just before the boats were due, the first time I've ever seen anyone in the river. It a big swiftly flowing, dirty river and you'd have to be a nutter to get into it. It turns out he was, protesting against the elitism of the people watching the race and the fact that it went past some places he considered elitist, like St Pauls.
Shortly after, the two boats arrived, still rowing furiously unaware that they would very soon have the opportunity to hit a crazy Ozzie on the head with an oar.
Then came the following flotilla, which suddenly and sadly screeched to a halt (not that boats screech)

The crews are in the middle behind the tree. They milled about for a while as the police arrived and took the protestor away, then rowed back up the river a short distance before restarting again right in front of me. All very exciting.
