Perhaps I'm the last person to find this out, but there is a new setting in Blogger that makes it really easy to upload and place photos. You can find it by clicking the Settings tab at the top of the page, then scrolling down to:
Global Settings
Go to:
Select post editor
Click: Updated editor
and click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
