A few days before Christmas we all headed for Nelson via the Lewis Pass and Hanmer. It was a beautiful drive with lots of wildflowers along the way. We spent the night in Hanmer. Ol and Rosie headed for the pools and Sid and I hung out in a playground. He spent ages stalking the ducks, and the rest of the time making sure I couldn't catch him as he scampered from one end of a pipe to another.
It was good to get back to Nelson. The damage from the heavy rain was evident and Rocks Road was still closed.
Rachel and Harry arrived soon after we did and we did the usual things - coffee at The Suter and a walk in Queens Gardens. In fact it was more of a chase in the gardens with two small escape artists on the loose.
